One means by which these lessons are disseminated is gender training and these has been a proliferation of methodologies by which this is being carried out. Most current efforts at gender training share a common objective in challenging biases in the planning process by alerting planners to gender divisions in resources and responsabilities. However, they vary in terms of their worldviews and their visions of gender equity. This paper examines three different training frameworks based on gender roles, women's triple roles and the social relations of gender in order to draw out how differences in their implicit worldviews affect their treatement of efficiency and equity issues. the paper concludes by arguing for training frameworks that move beyond static notions of effciency that encourage critical self-examination by planners of their own institutional practices ; and that incorporate a transformative politics which is premised on women's self-empowerment.|
